The Marionette Theatre of Simone Varey

It was a trick piano-playing marionette named Joe Jazz that first tickled Simone Varey’s sense of fun and creative possibilities for puppets. Joe Jazz’s former owner, a stockbroker by day and puppeteer by night, had lived in Italy for 12 years, but did not speak the native language with enough fluency to express subtle ideas. The trick puppet let her communicate through physical movement and music instead.
